World’s Tallest Men, Past and Present

Leonid Stadnyk (born 1971 in Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union) is the world’s tallest living man according to Guinness World Records 2008. He is a certified veterinarian and veterinary surgeon and lives with his mother in the village of Podolyantsi, Ukraine. He claims to be 2.57 m (8 ft 5 in) tall, and claims to be about 200 kg (440 lb) (April, 2004). He also claims to have the largest palm size recorded, at 31 cm (12¼ in) long (this claim has not been independently verified

Bao Xishun, the man, who is from the inner Mongolia region of China, is nearly 7 feet 9 inches tall. He has been confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest naturally growing person in the world. He said he was the same height as other children his age until he was 16. He then had a huge growth spurt.

Henry Hite, 2 m 48 cm. Henry Hite (1915 – 1972, Los Angeles), born Henry Mullens, was a giant who was well-known in his day for making movies and personal appearances and the occasional movie that would capitalize on his height, over 7ft.

Big Gust, 2 m 28 cm

Al Tomaini, 2 m 55 cm. Al Tomaini (1912—1962), born as Aurelio Tomaini, he claimed a height of 8′ 4½” (2.55 m); however Guinness World Records stated he was really 7’4″ (223.5 cm.), but he may have stood 7’6½” (229.9 cm.) at one time. Weighing 356 pounds (162 kg) and wearing size 27 shoes, Al spent most of his life as a circus giant. He was working with a circus at the Great Lakes Exposition in Chicago, in 1936, when he met his future wife, Jeanie Tomaini. She was born without legs and was only 2 ft 6 in (76 cm) tall.

Robert Wadlow, 2 m 78 cm. Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940), according to Guinness World Records, is the tallest person in medical history for whom there is irrefutable evidence. He is often known as the “Alton Giant” because of his Alton, Illinois hometown
