Ame and Lia, Not Twins But Born On The Same Day to the Same Mother

June 30th, 2008 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in babies, people

Ame and Lia are not twins but the two are born on the same day (just minutes apart) to the same mother, 29-year-old Miss Spence. The five-month-old babies look like twins, but in fact they’re not. They were conceived three weeks apart – a million-to-one medical rarity.

An explanation for this unusual case:The girls were conceived through a process known as superfetation, the term used to describe the formation of a foetus whilst another foetus is already present in the uterus.

This occurs when eggs from two separate menstrual cycles are released, as opposed to normal non-identical twins where more than one egg is released in a single cycle. Although common in animals it is rare in humans, but it can result in a twin or multiple pregnancy. It is diagnosed when the foetuses show a marked different in development. The girls are technically not twins. Identical twins occur when one egg splits into two and non-identical, or fraternal, twins occur when two eggs are released and fertilised at the same time.

If you don’t want your energy be wasted in the gym, why not enroll in one of Hong Kong’s human-powered gyms. In gyms such as these, the energy burned off your exercisers is diverted and converted to power lighting fixtures, and the excess energy is stored in a battery for later use – when gym users are resting. What a nice motivation to burn fats.

According to recent report, there are already 10 million millionaires in the world. I’m sure you wanna be one of them. But to be included in the list, you should have at least $1 million in assets.

“The growth of their wealth is outpacing the growth of their population, and that’s a trend that’s going to continue in coming years,” said Ileana Van Der Linde, a principal with Capgemini.

The ranks of the wealthy are growing fastest in the developing economies of India, China and Brazil. The number of millionaires in India grew by about 23 percent.

The United States still reigns supreme when it comes to fat wallets, though: One in every three millionaires in the world lives in America. Combined, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America account for just one in 10.

A police helicopter, with a three-man crew, had a close encounter with a UFO. They are forced to swerve sharply to avoid being hit by it. It would have been a direct hit, the crew said. This extraordinary incident which took place near an RAF base outside Cardiff, South Wales, was said to be the first sightings of its kind.

“They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw.

“These guys are hardened professionals and know people will take the mickey, but they are certain they saw a UFO.”

The source added to The Sun: “After the near-collision they decided to follow it to find out what the hell it was.

“They belted across the Bristol Channel in pursuit, but it was too quick. They got to the North Devon coast and had to turn back because they were running low on fuel.”

The police Eurocopter, an EC135T21, was hovering in the sky above RAF St Athan late at night, waiting to land, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
